Introducing GoodStanding

What skills are you best at?  What product or service does your business excel at?   What projects do you work on, where the time just flies because it is what you are good at doing?

I started pondering those questions in January of this year.  I am a Capricorn and had a “big birthday” that month.  And, well, it was the first of a new year, so why wouldn’t I be working on the future of the company?

I was also working on a public involvement project which really brought me back, reminiscing about how far the public process has come since I started the business in 1982.  There was a time when we were hired to manage a couple of required public meetings for public entities.  But, I always wanted to take the process further.  Nice that the public was heard, but now what?  Over the last 25+ years, our agency has refined the public process with our training and experience and  the great number of communication channels now available to us.  The public and community have changed too.  They want to be more engaged and heard and hold companies and public organizations accountable.

This brings me back to this year.  Managing the public participation process from beginning to end is what all of us at 465 Court Street do well. It’s where our hearts are.  And, we want to do more of it.  We know that through public participation, better decisions are made–decisions that affect us all.

So, here is GoodStanding, a division of our company that will focus on public outreach and education.  We help companies and organizations gain good standing in their communities and with their constituents.   It is where we will spend our resources in training and education. What happens to Olsen & Associates, our parent company?  Are we still a full-service public relations and marketing communications company?  Absolutely, but we are claiming our expertise and going after the business we do the best.  I’m excited to introduce to you GoodStanding—a public involvement and outreach practice.  Take a tour of our website.  If you have any questions, please contact us. Bravo! This is wonderful news for those of us who have been waiting for this kind of “focus on public outreach and education” You truly exemplify the concept of “Glocal”–changing the world by starting in the local community.

Keep up the good work for which you are well known.
